Photo Shoot Opportunity

Part of my makeup artistry class included having a photo shoot opportunity with a professional photographer.  I brought in two models and got to create two looks, research what kind of poses I wanted each of them to have in the photos and have 'fun' with makeup.  For my two looks, I decided on an Old Hollywood Glam inspired look and a natural, warm 'autumnal' look.  The focus of the Old Hollywood Glam look was on a bold red lip, black liner and 'lots' of gorgeous lashes with gold shimmery shadow.  The natural look was all about using warm shades of bronze, peaches, amber and cream shades.  My friend was able to take some photos of me working on the Old Hollywood Glam Look:

Here is the complete look:

The gold shadow on the eye is not overwhelming and ads that perfect touch of metallic glam.  It works well as a contrast to the true red lipstick, black liner and lashes. When I get the final photos from the photogrpher I will have the opportunity to post more photos with a close up on the eyes!

The model on the right is a friend of mine who posed for the natural, 'autumnal' makeup look I did - I used a lot of warm peach shades and on the lip, I used a natural toned lipliner with a warm apricot-orange lipstick!

I had a BLAST today working on these looks - it was great being able to create these looks on my friends and then having a photo opportunity to capture some poses to include into my portfolio.  I will keep you all posted once I get the professional photos!!!

Hi! I've noticed in your photos that your client's faces do not match the color of their necks. Their face is always lighter than their chest. I'm not sure if it's the flash on the camera or a finishing powder that gives that effect - but I always notice it. Also, it doesn't seem like their brows are finished. Their brows seem grey-er than the hair on their head. Those are things I that I personally struggle with so they always stand out to me in photos. :)

Tip: Shaping the brows of the lady in red lippie would be nice. Her brows right now are very asymmetrical and quite thin - I imagine using a soft e/s to make her brows a little thicker, more arched, more symmetrical and more proportionate (they should start further in towards the nose bride)... Eyebrows are such an important thing that can make a HUGE difference in how the face looks, but alas them brows are so often forgotten. It's not a bad look that you have created, I just think that improvements could be made. :)

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the makeup on the other girl, as I think everything just sits on her face. I think she's a true cool season considering how the makeup reads as orange on her rather than soft and delicious peach shades. :)

I hope you don't mind me giving you some feedback... that's what we learn from! :D

Thanks Anonymous for the feedback and tips - I see what you mean about the eyebrows and I agree! Also, I'm not disagreeing about the foundation being lighter on the 'old hollywood' look, but on the face chart I did - that was intentional - if it was for everyday, I would never have done that! I really do want to learn and see what other eyes see, so I appreciate the feedback and its something I'll take with me for the next looks that I create!!!
