Hair Colour I Want - Part 2

A few seconds after I posted my most recent 'Hair Colour I Want' post, I decided to do a little photo comparison of Angelina's hair to my natural haircolour as a child and I couldn't believe my eyes - check it out:

The same amount and richness and warm in present in both my photo and Angelina's - I know for sure that this is the next hair colour that I'll be putting on my hair next!!!  I now know what celebrity to look for in terms of hair colour inspiration and makeup!!!

The Haircolour I Want

I was looking on-line trying to get makeup inspiration from various celebrities when I couldn't stop looking at this picture of Angeline Jolie - I couldn't figue out what it was!  Was it her makeup, hair, clothes???  What was I so 'drawn' to - then I realized, it was infact her hair, her hair 'colour' in particular.  It actually reminds of of my natural colour with some added richness - I love how warm and rich the colour looks:

I'm going to keep this photo in mind the next time I get my hair coloured!!!  I have to admit that I also 'love' that lipstick that Angelina is wearing in this photo - it reminds me a little of Ramblin Rose by MAC, but sheerer!  I'll have to try and re-create this look!!!

Rose VS Peach - Take 2

I had a few requests to try the 'rose vs peach' experiement again, but without any makeup whatsoever and also wearing a more rose shade, for comparison - so, here we go:

Rose VS Peach

I was inspired by a recent aritcle in one of my favourite blogs called Truth Is Beauty (check out the website : http://www.truth-is-beauty.com/).  THe article was about Angelina Jolie and what her true seasonal type might be.  Check out the article at: http://www.truth-is-beauty.com/1/post/2010/12/ok-im-saying-it-i-think-angelina-jolie-is-a-soft-autumn.html
Basically, its clear that Angelina is a soft, but which one - two colours that are considered one of the best shades for each of the softs was used to compare - the first being Soft Summer's antiqued rose, the second being Soft Autumns dusty peach/honey shade.  I decided to do a little picture comparison using my own photo to see what would happen:

I honestly don't think there is any question that the soft dusty peach shade is better - at first I thought perhaps my makeup was influencing the end result, however, just looking at how the colour reacts to my skin, its clear that it glows in the peach/honey shade and becomes ashy in the cool rose shade!  Perhaps I will try this experiment again this time wearing no makeup just to make sure!!!

EYE Harmony

I always find it interesting when colours of a certain palette match the exact shade of your eyes and skintone.  One of my facebook friends who is very passionate about colour analysis put together some photo visuals for me of me next to the Soft Autumn palette (check out my previous post).  She also sent me this photo, which I found very interesting and helpful:

Seeing my eye and skintone next to this palette was literally 'eye-opening' - No pun intended LOL

I also really like the colour options for hair colours at the bottom right of the page - it really makes sense to me, as those shades are similar to the colour that I have naturally.  I also find that both my natural skintone and eye colour can be found in this palette - the result being complete harmony.  I know that there are some people who are still on 'Team True Autumn' and I really appreciate and respect everyones feedback - I don't want to make a final decision for myself until I actually get draped again by the 'sci/art' system.  I like being able to have options and I love experiementing with colour!   I find this whole process so fascinating!  I started out thinking I was one of the Autumns.  I was told I was a true winter, which didn't quite work for me, but I enjoyed playing around with those colours.  I then was almost convinced I was a Soft Summer - I didn't like all the cool toned pinks, but I loved the softness of the colours.  I then went back to playing around with the 'deeps' and then the brights, really liking the bright spring shades for their warmth, but finding the colours stood out too much (all you saw was makeup vs me).  I then got draped by an idependant woman (I'm still not 100% sure what system she used, but she didn't take into account a 'neutral' skintone, she went by cool and warm, found warm to be better and then found autumn to be better than spring,  She didn't have the 'soft autumn' option in her drapes, only light, true, warm and deep autumn - the light was too light, the warm was too warm etc etc - the 'true' is a real mix of true and soft autumn - interesting???).  I'm now at the place where I know that autumn is my 'base' season, the question is which one???  I'm really liking the soft autumn, since I do think my skintone is more neutral than warm, but again, I'd really like the sci/art draping experience to make sure!

A 'Must-SEE' palette and makeup comparison

Many thanks to a friend that I have on FB who put these two photos together for me AND also just a 'thank-you' to everyone who has helped me out with putting the landscapes and other photos together for me - i'm not very tech savvy and I appreciate my friends help!!!

I was thinking to myself that perhaps one day to narrow down this Soft Autumn vs True Autumn confusion is to fin a photo of myself where I absolutely 'love' my makeup and where I've received the MOST compliments over the years.  I honestly didn't even have to think about it - I instantly knew which photo to go to - I think of all the makeup looks I've done, this is the one that I get the most feedack and compliments on.  I decided to post it on FB and hear everyones opinion on which season it belongs to - I got a 'photo' response back from my friend who created this for me and I have to say that its amazing how well these shades fit with the Soft Autumn fan:

I've been looking at this fan and noticing that the SA shades that suit me the best are the deeper ones - someone even noticed that my hair-colour in the first photo actually matches the reddish-brown dark shade within the actual Soft Autumn palette.  I'm finding all of this very interesting and eye-opening and I have to admit that I love the blues of this palette against my skintone!!!  Here is a list of the makeup I used in top photo:

I recently got my Back2MAC free lipstick and while I was trying on various shades, I kept the notion of perhaps being a Soft Autumn in the back of my mind.  The Makeup Artist recommended that I try on 'Cherish', since I told her I was after a natural look that was 'soft' and complimented by skintone - without hesitation she picked up Cherish and thought this would be my perfect natural colour.  When I first tried it on without a liner, I thought it would make a lovely nude shade.  Then I deepened it just a bit by adding Hover lipliner (I also tried it on with Spice) and the result was 'perfection'.

The MAC website describes Cherish as a Soft Muted Peach-Beige.  I think the description is very consistent with the actual colour. 

I took this photo in my car with the ultimate natural light in the background - I think this photo really shows the soft elements of my features.  I'm wearing Cherish on its own without a liner and its the perfect 'my lips but better' nude shade.  I prefer it slightly deeper with a liner, but its great for when I want to do a smokier eye and keep the lips natural looking.  Also, I'm just trying to invision this look with slightly lighter and highlighted hair - Once this colour settles a bit, I'm planning on going back to the butterscotch highlights I had in the fall time - it was a gorgeous colour!

I deepened Cherish in this photo by layering it on top of Hover lipstick - I found a Soft Autumn inspired top as well and think this look really works well.  I took a similar photo wearing a Soft Summer top:

I think regardless of which season I may be, Cherish is a great soft-natural lip look for me - I particularily like it with the Hover lipliner, adding just enough depth to really compliment my skintone.  If you have similar colouring or if you're looking for a peach shade thats not too bright or dark, this is a geat colour option!!!
